(Any Office fans will get the title)
OK, Jason here- a bit of a different tone. Work has been great for many months then took a nasty turn this week. We decided to take the high ground again and go on a nice date Friday night. A new restaurant recently opened up in an amazingly remodeled building on Montgomery. It always seemed to be full so we decided to give it a try. Wow. It wound up being a cheese-wine-leathered Santa Fe lady type place. We dressed up, went in and were seated after the leathered Santa Fe lady in a red sequined cowgirl hat was seated. Most of the dishes seemed to be dripping rather than cooked in wine, but we did manage to find a few great choices:Appetizer: Baked Goat Cheese wrapped in prosciutto, brioche toast, black pepper-cranberry chutney
Joy: Flatiron steak with gorgonzola mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, shallot-herb pan sauce
Jason: Pacific Escalar (fish), 4 muscles, cubed Spanish Chorizo on bed of heirloom tomatoes
Dessert: Caramel Pecan Chocolate Torte (turned out to be dense chocolate cake & dark chocolate mousse).
Drinks: Water (surprisingly did not turn to wine)
We felt quite snobby by the time we left but were quickly pulled back to earth by Luke's Hot Wheels garage and Allie's doll house mess in the family room. We had a wonderful time.

what a fun fancy schmancy date night!
So is this where you're taking us to instead of Frontier next time we come? No way, Frontier sounds way better than this. :)
I got the instructions from my cousin, but they're the same ones your friend Jamie posted on her blog a while back. It took a long time, like an hour, so I did it last night while watching The Holiday with Paul. Love that movie. And love Red Box. Do you have Red Box? Best invention ever. Anyway, the instructions aren't too bad. You should try it.
I loved this post. Jason is far to witty and clever. We should have a Finer Things get together when you guys come for Thanksgiving. (that was a great episode! Thank goodness you can watch it online now because we don't have Tivo). Vic and I had a super fancy date night on Friday too. We'll have to tell you about it sometime. (It was completely free because my good friend Justin is the manager...holy cow! 7 courses). I loved the image of the greasy Santa Fe lady's.
Good times!! What a good idea to go fancy for a night out and a good change. Glad you had fun and followed the word of wisdom:o)
I should tell you... we had an all out fancy weekend. After walking to the grocery store with the kids (and our backpacks to carry the 4 gallons of milk home) we decided to go out to dinner as a family. We went to Le Taco Bell. Sometimes ya just gotta live it up!
I loooove Le Taco Bell. That's where we went Fri night! ;)
Yeah, that is The Holiday, where they switch homes. However, a post script to my comment, I don't know if I want my name attached to that movie anymore. I watched it again today while Thacker was sleeping and it was pretty dirty. I guess I was really distracted yesterday and not paying attention.
