OKRA - Oh Karamba (it's) Really Awsome

I know, ¡caramba! is spelled with a "C" not a "K". It's the best I could come up with. I had never had okra before this summer. I don't think that I even knew what it looked like. A friend convinced us to grow it. Wow, that is our new favorite vegetable! We sauté it in olive oil with onion and garlic and oh YUM! It is sooo good! We all fight for the last bite (yes, that means Allie and Luke too).

I have only had frozen okra prepard by someone else and I do not make it because I don't know how to prepare it right. I am going to give your recipe a whirl and see how the kiddos like it!!

welcome to one of the CLASSICS of southern cuisine (of course, around here it's often FRIED)!!! Honestly--it was one of the main "side dishes" in the public schools growing up...fried okra. YUM!

If you are going to make it, it's gotta be fresh. I would not suggest making it from frozen okra (atleast that is what I have been told).

I also am anxious to try this fresh recipe. People served it to me on my mission all the time (FRIED of course). Your version sounds much more up my alley. If you have any left by Thanksgiving, bring it up!

Oh Snap I love that stuff! On my mission people would prepare it similar to the way you did it. But I can't remember what they called it in brazil. anyone remember? I found a mix in the frozen food section that was Ok. I want to try yours
