Mery Christmas 2010

When I was little I remember asking my mom why there wasn't a "Kid's Day". After all we celebrate "Mother's Day", "Father's Day", everyone gets a birthday, but what about a Kid's Day?! My mother told that Christmas was for the children- starting first and foremost with the celebration of a little baby boy born in Bethlehem.

Now that I am a mom, I totally get it!
Isn't Rachel just so sweet! I just want to cover her with kisses!!!

We have to tell you a little bit about Wesley. He has had this obsession with swords. His little friend let him take one home to borrow for a day and he would not part with it. He saved us from many a bad guy and at dinner he slid it (one handed) safely into his scabbard (which was back of his t-shirt right through the neck opening behind his head) and then of course slept with it that night. You can imagine what we realized HAD to be on his Christmas list!
It was a good thing too! How would we have ever gotten through the wrapping paper?!

Wesley is not our only little warrior fighting against evil. Allie begged for a bow and arrow since this summer when she got to play with one at a friend's house.

But she is still our first little princess and so the princess video gift from Grandma Payne was a huge hit!
Luke is just so fun because he is so expressive! What does a train say... WOO HOOOOO!!!!

Rachel wasn't left out. She got a papasan baby swing (wait, was that for her or her mom and dad?) which arrived a week before Christmas. It has a mirror with little rotating figures around it. She often looks up and sees the most adorable little baby girl who smiles back at her! The swing was worth it for that alone!
She also got a Skuut bike (which means we only got one and the kids, the boys especially, have to share. That is why Santa brought it for Rachel).

Another few of the reasons for Christmas: FAMILY!

What a fun Christmas to be with family and enjoy the holidays. I especially liked the enthusiasm of the kids in opening their toys.

The swords were a hit. I was up early when the boys came out and saw the swords under their stockings. The stared at them and asked "Whose are those?" They couldn't grasp that they had been left for them. Once they got the idea that Santa had left them they were all for getting them off the cardboard backing and into action against the "bad guys."

Thanks for having us for Christmas.

Joy, Thanks for the wonderful blog with all the great pictures! It was a really fun vacation and the best part was spending the time with the excited kids. Of course, it was wonderful to have 10 of the adults there as well. We sure missed the rest of you, but you were in our thoughts. We had great food, great company, some fun adult activities (dinner out at a G-F Italian restaurant, Girls lunch at Jason's deli, boys (and Krista) shooting and the Payne extended family "Pop Luck". It was all great.
Thanks Jason and Joy!!!

Ellis got a Nerf sword for his birthday. If Luke and Wesley ever need a backup against the bad guys, we're all over it.
Thanks for the pictures.

We had a great time and the pictures _almost_ captured the electricity of the moment when Luke opened the box of train parts. Thanks for having us! We had a wonderful time.

Thanks for having us, we had a wonderful time. I vote for Luke opening the train as the most excited I have ever seen any kid on Christmas, we loved it. It was fun to see everyone and play with the kids.

Joy, I love your back splash. And the SKUUT! How is it with out even talking about them, our little boys got the same gift? So cool. You'll have to tell me how it's working for your boys. Mackay is still unsure on his balance bike but when we're not looking, he'll try it out.
